Ok ready for a news flash, here it comes; exercise is not just something those strange people you see out running in all weather do, nor should it be. So far, we have been talking about exercising your mind to expand and accept that there is a better more fulfilling life for you. We will be continuing with this but right now allow me to inject the fact that along with an improvement in thinking you are going to need an improvement in action. Now I can already hear the hollering, first you tell me I can make more money, then you start talking about eating better Food for Thought or Let's Think About Food, then about taking better care of my health Life of The Party now you are telling me I need to exercise. I just want to make more money.
Well there is that old familiar thinking that has helped to keep you down until now. The voice that says you don’t need all of this, you are better than that, all you need is the way and you can take it from there. Impatience, the one thing that will bring anyone to their knees. The truth of the matter is this without the complete package any gains that you realize will be short lived and you will wind up right back where you began, just a little more convinced you couldn’t do it in the first place. Personal Development is about developing in all areas of your life be it financial, diet, health, exercise, mental, emotional. Well you get the picture.
As I was relating in the article Life is a Bowl of Cherries and promised to go into in more detail I was feeling lonely, tired, needy, poor, hurting and all of this at a time when to the outside world it looked as if “I had it made”. I was always around people but always lonely, making a very good amount but trading way to much of myself for it and way too much of my time for it. Therefore, I was rich in financial gains but poor in time. I was pushing myself past my physical limits on a constant basis and so always hurting in one manner or another. At one time I was on 2 different prescriptions for breathing that when the decision to leave that job behind (financially a bad decision but good for my health) I was able to immediately come off the medications and my breathing was normal. Stress can and will kill you it allowed to go on unchecked for too long. The biggest thing that I was learning during this time and the time that followed and am still learning on a daily basis is about balance.
Balance is what allows you to achieve all that you are capable of without sacrificing everything you are in order to achieve it. You can run along for a period of time out of balance in one area of your life or another but you will find that sooner or later just like a tire that is out of balance and an engine that is out of balance the running will never be smooth and sooner or later you will either have a blow out (heart attack, stroke) or just come apart. (Mental break down, physical ailments manifested from stress). Unfortunately, no one talks about balance because we have been conditioned to go, go, go, until we are done and then we will just be tossed aside like an empty milk bottle and replaced with a new one. There is a reason that meditation has been practiced for centuries, and many companies are just now coming to realize that starting the day off with exercise helps to reduce the stress that is built up in the day. Unfortunately, excessively few are seeing the benefits of this and so we are left to our own accord to find it for ourselves.
I will talk more in my next article So You Have Been Living A Good Life about balance but for now just realize that in order to achieve the dreams, goals, aspirations that you have you will need to learn to have everything in balance so that as you accomplish these dreams, goals, and aspirations you are able to enjoy them as well.
